Tao Digital have recently been working closely with Barlow Irvin to propel and cement them as a local industry leader in the field of first time buyer mortgages.

This has included using careful SEO strategy to create an expert, all-encompassing guide for their website which answers all questions first time buyers are searching for (Barlow Irvin first time buyers guide). We also turned this into a PDF information pack (First time buyers PDF), and condensed all of the information into a short video which sits at the bottom of the guide so we could reach more of their potential customers in an approachable and informative way. 

Generating leads for a mortgage broker

To generate leads for Barlow Irvin, a trusted local mortgage broker, we targeted the specific topic of first time buyers, because our SEO analytics tools showed us that lots of people were searching for related terms ending in queries such as ‘for first time buyers,’ as well as other contextually similar terms.

Whilst finding strong foundations such as this for a project is exciting, there is a lot more work than you might expect that goes into building a thorough content hub and establishing a client as a topical authority.

The first stage of this was to build out the first time buyers guide, as this is where we want to show potential customers of Barlow Irvin that this is a financial services business that they can trust. To achieve this, we made sure to cover all relevant search queries in this one guide:

Having built the guide, the next step is to get as much traffic as possible towards this page. This is where we employed our internal links strategy; writing blogs targeted towards specific queries our potential customers have, and using internal links within these blog posts to redirect customers towards the buyers guide. 

On top of this, these internal links are beneficial because they:

  • Contribute to web crawlability and indexing
  • Increase page authority in search engines
  • Optimise website structure

  • Create strong topical relevance

Creating further content

Beyond blog posts and the main guide, we wanted to make sure that there was even more easily digestible content which shows the audience of our client (Barlow Irvin) that they are experts in their field. For this, we created a short animated video, which is embedded at the bottom of the first time buyers guide.

We made this so that potential customers who have reached the bottom of this guide could receive a quick round up/recap after taking on a lot of written content. This makes it more likely that these potential customers will engage with Barlow Irvin, and turn into leads and/or paying customers.
